Freelance Web Developer in Bangalore
One accountable person building business websites, online stores and web applications — Next.js or WordPress, Core Web Vitals green, and every account in your name. You talk to the person writing the code, not an account manager relaying it.
- From ₹7,000 — business sites, stores and web apps
- Fixed, itemised quotes — within 24 hours, with exclusions in writing
- Staged payments — against delivery, not upfront in full
- You own everything — domain, code, hosting, CMS, analytics
- One person, start to finish — no account manager in between
The short answer
A freelance web developer in Bangalore charges ₹7,000–₹80,000 for most business websites, ₹50,000 upwards for e-commerce, and ₹15,000–₹1,20,000 to rescue or redesign an existing site. A standard 5–8 page site takes two to four weeks once content is approved.
The real difference from an agency is not quality, it is overhead and cover: you are not paying for a sales layer, and there is one person rather than a team behind you. Where that trade-off favours an agency, I will say so — that conversation is on the hiring a freelance developer page.
What I build
Six kinds of web project
Most quotes go wrong because nobody established which of these it is. A brochure site and a catalogue-driven store are different products with different costs, and paying for the wrong one is the most expensive mistake in this category.
Business websites
Five to fifteen pages for consultancies, clinics, manufacturers and trusts — the site that has to make you look credible and turn a visitor into an enquiry.
₹7,000 – ₹80,000
E-commerce stores
Catalogue, payments, shipping and GST invoicing on Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom build. Cost scales with catalogue size and integrations, not with page count.
₹50,000 – ₹8,00,000
Web applications
Portals, booking systems, dashboards and member areas — a database, authentication, roles and an admin panel rather than a set of pages.
Quoted after scoping
WordPress builds and rescues
A CMS your team can actually edit, or the recovery of a site that is slow, broken or abandoned by whoever built it last.
₹15,000 – ₹1,20,000
Landing pages for ad spend
One page per service, built to be measured — call tracking, conversion events and a layout that can be A/B tested without a rebuild.
₹7,000 – ₹40,000
SEO-ready builds
Keyword research before design, schema markup, sitemaps, canonicals and Core Web Vitals passing on the day it launches rather than as a later project.
Included as standard
Choosing between WordPress and Next.js, or between a rebuild and a repair? Both comparisons live on the website development page rather than being repeated here.
Selected work
Projects, and what was actually done
Scope is described accurately. Measured results are not published for these yet — the clients have not supplied figures, and inventing them would make every other number on this site worth less.

Tech stack
What it gets built on.
Next.js and React where speed, custom functionality and scale matter; WordPress and WooCommerce where a non-technical team publishes often; Shopify where the job is straightforwardly selling products. The platform follows how your team will actually use the site — not what I would rather build. Hosting on Vercel or Cloudflare, code in a Git repository that belongs to you from the first commit.
How a build runs
Seven stages, and you see the site at every one
The stage that matters is the fourth. You get a staging link every week and review real pages as they are built — no silent months, and no big reveal at the end where fixing anything means redoing it.
The honest comparison
Freelancer, agency, or a website builder?
Three genuinely different purchases, and the cheapest one is not automatically wrong. What follows is the comparison I would want if I were buying — including the row where hiring one person is the weaker answer.
| Freelancer (me) | Agency | Website builder | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical cost, business site | ₹7,000 – ₹80,000 | ₹50,000 – ₹5,00,000 | ₹1,000 – ₹3,000 a month, forever |
| Who actually builds it | The person you spoke to | Often a junior, briefed by the person you spoke to | You do |
| What you pay for | Development time | Development time plus sales, account management and office overhead | A subscription and your own weekends |
| Custom functionality | Whatever can be built — bookings, portals, integrations | Same, usually with a longer runway | Only what the template and its plugins allow |
| SEO ceiling | No ceiling — markup, speed and structure are all under your control | No ceiling | Capped by the platform's markup and page speed |
| Support | One person. Fast, and honestly a single point of failure | A team with cover, behind a ticket queue | A help centre and a community forum |
| Ownership | Yours — domain, repository, hosting, CMS, analytics, all in your name | Usually yours; check the contract, because sometimes it is not | Theirs. Stop paying and the site goes away |
| Where it goes wrong | One person can fall ill or take on too much — which is a real risk with a structural answer | You are a small account beside their large ones | You outgrow it and rebuild from scratch in year two |
If your project needs several specialists working in parallel to a hard deadline, or contractual cover that survives one person being unavailable, hire an agency. I would rather tell you that at the quote stage than halfway through a build.
What it costs
Website cost by type
Bands rather than single numbers, because a single number would be a lie. What moves you along a band is page count, how much is custom, and how many systems the site has to talk to.

Four questions that move a website quote more than anything else. Pick the closest match for a working number in about twenty seconds.
The formula: Build = site type + design approach + extra functionality. Monthly = hosting and domain + optional care plan. Year one = build + (monthly × 12).
Indicative Indian market ranges, not a rate card — a real quote comes from a conversation about your content and integrations. Hosting and domain are billed to your own accounts at cost. Every figure here is sourced in pricing.

Indicative pricing
Tiers, in full
Published because a buyer comparing three freelancers deserves to start from the same information. Adding the AI layer — search that understands a question, a grounded assistant, drafting in the CMS — is priced separately on the AI website development page.
| Tier | Indicative range | Timeline | What sits inside it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | ₹7,000 – ₹25,000 | 1 – 2 weeks | 3–5 pages, mobile-responsive, contact and WhatsApp forms, basic on-page SEO, analytics. For getting credible quickly |
| Business | ₹25,000 – ₹80,000 | 2 – 4 weeks | 5–10 pages, CMS your team can edit, keyword research before design, schema, Core Web Vitals, CRM-connected forms, 30 days support |
| E-commerce | ₹50,000 – ₹8,00,000 | 6 – 12 weeks | Catalogue, payment gateway, shipping, GST invoicing, order management, abandoned-cart recovery. Scales with catalogue and integrations |
| Custom web app | Quoted after scoping | 8 weeks + | Database design, authentication, roles, admin panel, third-party integrations. Priced honestly only after the scope exists |
| Redesign / rescue | ₹15,000 – ₹1,20,000 | 2 – 6 weeks | Audit first, then rebuild preserving rankings and URLs, with a redirect map and speed remediation |
| Care plan (optional) | ₹15,000 – ₹60,000 / year | Ongoing | Updates, backups, uptime monitoring, security patching and small content edits |
Indicative Indian market ranges, not a rate card. Hosting, domain and third-party services are billed to your own accounts at cost. Every figure is sourced in pricing.
Delivery timeline
How long it actually takes
These clocks start when content is approved, not when the deposit clears. The most common cause of a late website is waiting for copy and photographs — so the quote lists what I need from you, and when.
| Project | Typical time | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page | 3 – 7 days | Copy and one round of design feedback are the whole critical path |
| Starter site, 3–5 pages | 1 – 2 weeks | Assumes content is ready on day one |
| Business site, 5–10 pages | 2 – 4 weeks | The usual delay is content approval, not development |
| Larger site, 10–20 pages | 4 – 8 weeks | Keyword mapping and blog architecture add a week at the front |
| E-commerce store | 6 – 12 weeks | Catalogue data and payment-gateway KYC are the two things that slip |
| Custom web application | 8 weeks + | Quoted in stages after scoping, never as a single number upfront |
- Availability
- Usually one to two weeks before a new build starts — I take on a limited number at a time and will tell you my real availability
- Revisions
- Two rounds at design stage and one after build are included; beyond that is quoted before any work happens
- Payments
- Staged against delivery — a start payment, one or two milestones, balance on handover
- After launch
- 30 days of support included, then an optional care plan at ₹15,000–₹60,000 a year
FAQ
Hiring a freelance web developer — questions I get asked
How much does a freelance web developer charge in Bangalore?
₹7,000–₹80,000 for most business websites, ₹50,000 upwards for e-commerce. On a time basis, experienced Indian freelance rates run roughly ₹800–₹3,000 an hour against ₹1,500–₹5,000 for an agency doing the same work. The gap is overhead — sales staff, account managers and office costs that never touch your project. The estimator above gets you to a number for your own shape in under a minute.
Is a freelance web developer cheaper than an agency?
Usually, and for a structural reason rather than a quality one: you are not funding a sales layer. What you give up is cover. An agency has other people who can pick your project up if someone is unavailable, and if your build genuinely needs three specialists working in parallel to a fixed deadline, that is worth paying for and I will tell you so. The freelancer versus agency comparison sets out the trade-off in full, including where the agency wins.
Do you work only with clients in Bangalore?
No. I am based in Bengaluru, which matters if you want to meet, but website work is delivered remotely and most of my clients are elsewhere in India or abroad. Nothing about a website build requires me to be in your city — only physical work like cameras and cabling does.
How long does a website take to build?
One to two weeks for a starter site, two to four for a standard business site, six to twelve for e-commerce. The honest caveat: those clocks assume content is ready. The single most common cause of a late website is not development, it is waiting for copy and photographs — which is why the quote lists what I need from you and when.
Will I own the website and the code?
Yes, entirely, from the first commit. Domain, hosting, repository, CMS logins and analytics are all registered in your name and handed over documented. You can take the site to another developer without asking me for anything, and that is a genuine option rather than a polite fiction — it is the main thing that separates this from a website builder subscription.
What about a Wix or Shopify site — why hire a developer at all?
For a three-page site for a business that will never need more, a builder is a reasonable answer and I will say so rather than sell you something. The two things that change the maths are the SEO ceiling and the exit: builder markup and page speed cap how well you can rank, and you never own the result, so leaving means rebuilding. If the site is a sales channel rather than a business card, that ceiling arrives sooner than people expect.
WordPress or Next.js — which should I choose?
It depends on how often your team publishes and how custom the functionality is, and anyone who answers without asking that is selling what they happen to build. WordPress suits frequent non-technical publishing; Next.js suits speed, custom functionality and scale. There is a full comparison on the website development page, and I build both.
How do payments work?
Staged against delivery, never in full upfront — typically a start payment, one or two milestones and a balance on handover. Razorpay, UPI or bank transfer, with a GST invoice for every payment. If a milestone is not signed off, the next stage does not begin.
What happens if you are unavailable halfway through?
It is the fair question to ask any individual, and the answer has to be structural rather than reassuring. Your code sits in your own repository from day one, accounts are in your name, and the work is documented as it goes — so another developer can pick it up without archaeology. Ask any freelancer how you would recover if they vanished; the shape of the answer tells you most of what you need to know.
Can you improve an existing site instead of rebuilding it?
Often yes, and it is usually the better spend. A speed and SEO remediation on a structurally sound site costs a fraction of a rebuild and protects rankings you already have. I will tell you which of the two your site needs after looking at it — and if the honest answer is that it needs nothing right now, you will get that too.
Do you write the content as well?
I write the structure, the page titles and the SEO-facing copy as part of the build, because those are search decisions rather than writing ones. Long-form content, product descriptions and photography are yours or quoted separately. What I will not do is fill a site with placeholder text and call it delivered.
What is included as standard in every build?
Keyword research before design, responsive layout, technical SEO — schema, sitemaps, canonicals, Core Web Vitals — a CMS your team can edit, analytics and Search Console configured, lead forms wired to your inbox or CRM, SSL, and 30 days of post-launch support. These are not upsells; a site without them is unfinished.
Tell me what the site has to do.
Send the pages you think you need, any site you already have, and the thing visitors keep failing to do. You get an itemised quote — page list, platform, cost, timeline and exclusions — within 24 hours. If a website builder would genuinely serve you better, that is what the reply will say.
